Child & Adult Care Food Program
(CACPF)

Mission of CACFP is to:

  • Ensure that nutritious and safely prepared meals and snacks are available to children in day care settings
  • Reimburse child care providers who serve qualifying meals and snacks

Requirements include:

  • Preparing and serving meals that meet meal pattern requirements, which consists of serving certain groups of foods in amounts appropriate to the child’s age
  • Keeping required records, including daily menus, attendance, and the number of children served at each meal
  • Maintaining good sanitation practices
  • Promoting the safety and well being of children
  • Participating in required training on an annual basis

 

Benefits are:

  • Assistance with the payment of meals served to children in care
  • Training on a variety of topics such as how to serve meals that meet child care standards for nutrition
  • Assurance that children are getting nutritious meals
  • Opportunities for families to develop healthy eating habits

 

Opportunities for Chenango, Inc. serves:

  • Family day care homes that are regulated or approved and have a signed agreement
  • Early and Preschool Head Start sites located in Bainbridge, Greene, Guilford, New Berlin, North Norwich, Norwich, Otselic Valley, Oxford, and Sherburne
  • A Pre-K site located in Afton
