NYS Awards OFC, Inc. $400,000 Housing Grant
On Friday August 9th, Opportunities for Chenango, Inc. and the Town of Sherburne were awarded a $400,000 grant to assist low-to-middle income families become homeowners. This grant will allow local residents to improve their situations and give them a safe place to call home. It will also help improve the local tax base and make our communities stronger.
Lt. Governor Mary Donahue was on hand to present the award; and speeches were presented by Sherburne mayor William Acee, Town of Sherburne Supervisor Harry Conley, DHCR Commissioner Judy Calegaro, and Assemblyman Clifford Crouch. In her own address Ms. Donahue praised the efforts of organizations like OFC, Inc. and expressed pride in residing in Upstate New York.
Our own Executive Director Beverly Glen responded in kind in a brief address, citing the Housing staff of OFC, Inc. as the driving force behind our efforts to provide adequate housing to the residents of Chenango County. She also expressed OFC, Inc.'s gratitute in receiving this grant, saying: "Low and moderate income individuals and families will be getting a brand new start in a place they can truly call home.".
